While there are several factors being blamed for its failure, one hot topic now is the decision to release the film with a purely Tamil title in Telugu markets without dubbing it, sparking debate.

When the Telugu version of the Tamil film Vettaiyan was announced with the same Tamil title, many Telugu audiences expressed disappointment. Notably, writers like Abburi Ravi criticized this trend. Earlier, Ajith’s Valimai was also released with its Tamil title in Telugu, which turned out to be a box office failure. The question now is whether filmmakers will finally recognize the importance of choosing suitable Telugu titles for their dubbed films. In contrast, Karthi’s movie Satyam Sundaram, which was released around the same time, had a proper Telugu title and received positive feedback from Telugu viewers.

While a title alone doesn’t guarantee a movie’s success or failure, it plays a significant role in attracting the audience. Filmmakers need to understand that a relatable title is crucial, especially when dubbing for regional audiences. If their goal is to create a pan-Indian movie with a universal title, they should take inspiration from filmmakers like Rajamouli or Prashanth Neel, who coined titles like Bahubali that resonate across all languages.

The real question is whether filmmakers will finally stop disregarding the preferences of the Telugu audience and make more thoughtful decisions moving forward. Only time will tell.
