There were times when hero’s promoted one another’s films in Tollywood. Here’s a small instance for you. Did you know Chiranjeevi as actively involved in the promotion of Balakrishna’s Aditya 369? Well, that’s interesting no? While Bollywood sees this trend very often and in a more prominent fashion today, we don’t really see this culture very often.
Just think of it. When was the last time you saw one of the top heroes batting for another contemporary star? When we say star, we are referring to the biggies. Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, NTR, Prabhas, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan etc. When they are from the same family, they obviously do the needful. But otherwise, how much support actually does come forward? The recent examples of top B-Towners going ahead without hesitation to promote Rustom, Akshay Kumar’s latest film, is something that is worth taking an inspiration from.
It is to be noted that our T-Town celebs have come together several times. Be it for charity or big events. They have put on joint fronts. But then again, the camps which have formed do not really show this kind of attitude where one star bats for the other.
What’s the benefit for them, you might ask? Well, simple. They’d be putting forth a message of unity, indirectly asking “fan camps” to unite and show a rare display of brotherhood which has been missing off late in our industry.
With prestige (how can I promote another hero’s film? how can I say ‘good luck’? what will my fans think?) becoming the mantra everyone seems to be believing in, we are slowly becoming an industry that needs more friendliness to be put across, especially from our stars.
Already, the smaller heroes, and lesser stars like Rana, Sundeep Kishan, Sharwanand, Nani et al have brought back this idea over time. But our stars really need to think about building a united front. Maybe they want to retain an element of mystery or do not want to hurt their fans but all we can see as the regular audience is a possible animosity in between. Break the barriers, if there are any. Show us you don’t share bad blood. It’s high time, isn’t it?
