Telangana Excise Department issued notices to 10 individuals from the Tollywood industry who took drugs. Officials summoned 3 young heroes, 4 directors, 2 producers and fight master, to attend a trial in next six days.
From the past few days, reports of the drugs mafia being associated with the Telugu film industry have emerged continuously. Tollywood has finally spoken about the drug menace on Wednesday.
Movie Artists Association President Sivaji Raja, producers Suresh Babu and Allu Aravind, actors Srikanth and Naresh addressed a meeting and gave a serious ultimatum to the stars who have been taking the drugs.
Allu Arvind admitting that Tollywood has links with Drug mafia said that it is the collective responsibility of the film industry to foil the circle. He advised people to avoid ruining their lives.
Producer Suresh Babu said the issue of drugs should be treated sensitively. He called onto the responsible individuals in the industry to identify the roots of the menace. He requested his peers to avoid giving a bad name to the industry.
Drug addiction is a social disorder and it should not be in any form associated with the industry. MAA said that they would take up some initiatives to create awareness among the stars. The team not only urged the government to take severe action against the stars but also promised to provide unconditional support.
