Sankranthi, Summer and Dasara are the best seasons for films in Tollywood. Most of the stars prefer to release their films during this season to rake massive revenues. After Sankranthi season coming to an end, Tollywood is now focused on summer. Mahesh Babu’s Maharshi, Nani’s Jersey, Vijay Devarakonda’s Dear Comrade, Naga Chaitanya’s Majili, Sai Dharam Tej’s Chitralahari, Sharwanand’s untitled film, Gopichand’s spy thriller and Ram’s iSmart Shankar are the films announced for summer this year.
Except Mahesh’s Maharshi, no other film is carrying decent buzz among the summer releases. Sharwanand is shooting for Sudheer Varma’s film which has 30 days of shoot left. The film is yet to be titled and Sharwanand, Sudheer Varma are struggling for success. Hence the film is lacking buzz. Naga Chaitanya tasted a series of disasters and his next film’s title Majili too did not get positive response. Samantha playing the female lead is the only positive sign for the project.
Nani’s Jersey teaser created a decent impact and promises to be high on emotions. But there are talks that the film has a slow paced drama and will not cater to all the sections. The film directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri is expected to impress the multiplex crowds. Vijay Devarakonda is yet to start promotions for Dear Comrade and the makers remained silent as of now. Gopichand and Ram too are struggling to make a good film because of which their films are running low in catching the buzz.
On the whole, this summer has a bunch of releases which are not hot in trade and are carrying low buzz. The teaser and trailers along with promotions may make them hot and interesting. The estimated business during this summer is said to be over Rs 250 crores. We have to wait to see which film ends up as a winner in the summer race.
