Urban development minister P Narayana confirmed that government had revoked the notification issued to acquire the lands in river front villages in Amaravati Capital Region. He said this decision was taken following the suggestion from Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan and also at the behest of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
It may recalled here that Pawan Kalyan , in a public meeting in Penumaka last week, warned the government of serious consequences if the officials were to go ahead with acquiring the multi-crop land from the farmers.
Narayana said government had collected 1000 acres after the notification for land acquisition issued. “But, now, due to Pawan Kalyan’s suggestion and after a discussion with CM Naidu we have withdrawn the land acquisition notification,” he said and added that the earlier LA notification was issued without CM’s knowledge. As Pawan’s tours in the capital region villages drew unprecedented response from the farmers, yesterday CM also announced that he wanted to talk to Pawan on the matter to settle it amicably.
In less than 24 hours, Narayana announced the decision. “It is not our intention to go in for Land Acquisition. The government had to issue LA notification under some special circumstance . As per Pawan Kalyan’s advice we have withdrawn the notification. We will persuade the farmers to part with the lands in the interest of the state,” he said in Vijayawada.
