The TRS circles are curious about the outcome of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s trip to New Delhi. Unlike Naidu, KCR is a silent operator. KCR’s trips to New Delhi are few and far between. This time round, he is spending three days in Delhi. Many believe it is not a simple and routine trip to national capital to pay a courtesy call to PM Modi and hog the limelight of national media.
Many argue that the trip is purely political one. The demand for more funds and projects is only a non-serious aspect of the trip. They believe, in a month or two, KCR will surprise whole of India by his political decision. Yesterday he had a private meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A crucial meeting with BJP national president Amit Shah is also expected. What some leaders in TRS strongly believe is that TRS may join the NDA government. According to these leaders, KCR is preparing ground for that and it might happen in near future.
“There is no reason why TRS should remain outside NDA when joining Modi’s government would benefit the state and party. TRS and BJP are not enemies. The Muslim factor is also taken care of. MIM is not a factor that could preclude TRS’ move. The expensive promises the party made to Hyderabad voters, and the projects that are being initiated by the TRS government warrant close cooperation with the centre. KCR’s trip is meant to build bridges with Modi,” sources said.
Can Andhra Pradesh chief minister stall the marriage of convenience between BJP and TRS? He can’t raise the issue of poaching of MLAs by TRS and stop KCR from becoming a member of NDA- this happens in politics everywhere, and what Naidu is doing in Andhra Pradesh with respect to YSRC has considerably weakened this argument against poaching.
As for BJP, the party desperately needs some toe hold in Telangana. The saffron party has not been able to gain ground either in Hyderabad out outside despite its anti-Muslim posture. So associating with TRS would definitely get the party a bit closer to the people in the company of TRS.
