Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has got into damage control mode in Nizamabad district as farmers of turmeric and red jowar are filing nominations to contest against sitting MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha. TRS high command has deployed party cadres and leaders to interact with farmers to pacify their anger over minimum support price (MSP) issue.
Numbering over 1,000, farmers of turmeric and red jowar in Nizamabad district have taken nomination papers from the district Collector’s office to contest against MP Kavitha, who’s been fighting for raising MSP and raised her voice in Lok Sabha as well.
“The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government is not implementing MSP for turmeric and red jowar farmers. TRS has been raising voice in the Parliament against this issue. Congress and BJP are misleading farmers against TRS. Farmers should realise who’s raising voice for farmers and who’re indulged in cheap politics. The funds disbursal for Nizamabad district during 2010-14 were just Rs104crore as against Rs874cr during 2014 till date,” said Kavitha, who further termed TRS as Telangana Rythu Samithi, while highlighting the efforts of the party towards farming community.
TRS leaders have initiated interactions with local farmers in the district and are assuring them of resolving all the pending problems of agriculture sector.
