The Mahabubnagar Zilla Parishad meeting turned violent today following the slapping Congress Maktal MLA Chittem Rammohan Reddy by TRS Achampet MLA Guvvala Balaraju. The incident took place in the full glare of TV Friday afternoon which was telecast live by Telugu Channels to surprise of everybody. Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Laskhma Reddy were also witness to the incident.
The trouble arose when TRS and TDP members were arguing about the a letter written AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu to the centre asking them to stop the construction of Palamuru-RR irrigation project across Krishna in Mahabubnagar by Telangana government. Minister Jupally Krishna Rao asked the TDP MLA Rajendra Reddy to get the letter withdrawn before he spoke in the meeting. The minister did not allow the TDP member to speak which resulted in the heated argument.
As he was not getting a chance to speak because of TDP-TRS squabble, Congress MA Rammohan Reddy rushed to the podium of the chairman to protest. Then irate Balaraju ran after him and entered into argument. And amid the argument, Balaraju slapped the Congress MLA. Later, the TRS MLA squatted in front of the ZP Chairperson’s podium alleging that he was allegedly abused by the Congress MLA Reddy. He demanded action against Reddy under Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act.
