New Delhi: Telangana IT and Panchayat Minister K. Taraka Rama Rao has explained Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on the damaged done to Telangana State following torrential rains lashed the State for the past one month. KTR called on the Union Minister on Friday in the national capital and urged the Centre to extend financial assistance of Rs 1,189 crore to Telangana.
Later, KTR met Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and asked him to exempt the fee (traffic blockage charges) being collected for the Hyderabad Metro Rail works at various railway crossings in Hyderabad.
During the previous Congress government in united Andhra Pradesh, the railways exempted the charges when the Metro rail works started initially. However, after the BJP government came to power, the Railway board convened a meeting and decided to impose the charges.
KTR also apprised the Suresh Prabhu of proposal on setting up two new railway terminals in the outskirts of the city. It may be recalled that Telangana Chief Minister had submitted a memorandum to the Railway Minister urging him to expedite process of setting up terminals in Cherlapally and Nagulapally railway stations.
