Stating that the TRS Government’s new industrial policy TS-iPASS was unique in the country, Minister for IT and Industries K. Tarakarama Rao claims that the new industrial policy has ushered in a new era with almost 5 lakh people getting employment directly and indirectly in various firms. He said that out of world’s top five companies, four have established their units in Hyderabad.
Speaking in Legislative Council on his government’s progress in industrial promotion, Rao said that the state was making strides in the industrial development within a short span of two years and stood at top in the country in the Ease of Doing Business rankings.
He said that the state government was encouraging investments in 14 major sectors. He said that on the day of foundation laying ceremony for food-park, three companies came forward to establish their units in the city. He said that the government was encouraging the manufacturing units to promote townships so that the employees get accommodation and other facilities for their families at their place of work.
The minister said that the State Government was coming up with various projects like food processing parks, seed-park, spice-park, leather units. Special projects for women entrepreneurs would come up at Sultanpur.
The IT minister said that the state government was making efforts to make the capital city an industrial pollution free-city. He said that the licenses of various units were cancelled in the city outskirts after they were found to be releasing highly toxic fluids and industrial wastage.
