[intro] Telangana to discus with Maharashtra on submergence of land under Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project, following WAPCOS submitting a DPR to the governmnet. [/intro]
Hyderabad: Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has asked the Water and Power Consultancy Services (India) Ltd (WAPCOS) officials to come up with a detailed report on the submergence of lands under Medigedda and Tummadi Hatti. He said that the details are needed so as to take up the issue with neighbouring Maharashtra government to find out a solution and to go ahead with the proposed Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project.
The minister has made this request when the officials from WAPCOS have submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR), and drawings on Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Scheme to him on Friday.
The project which was estimated to cost Rs 8,900 Cr in 2007-2008 has however has escalated to Rs 10,300 Cr at the current estimates in 2015-16. the project proposes three barrages and a pump house to store a total of 21.29 tmcs of water. The report would be placed before the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao for his approval, the minister said.
