Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) is seriously thinking of providing automated umbrellas for the the pilgrims in galleries to shield from inclement weather conditions. In all probability the retractable umbrellas will be in place by this summer.
Reviewing the various issues of TTD with heads of various departments at Annamaiah Bhavanin Tirumala , the TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao instructed the officials concerned to examine the proposal and install it as early as possible.
He told the officials that a shield or cover be arranged to protect pilgrims waiting in galleries of four mada streets from scorching temperatures and rains. He asked the official to study such retractable umbrellas like the ones used in international tennis tournaments such as Wimbledon etc. These all-weather umbrellas deploy or retract automatically. During the inclement weather, the games on Wimbledon Centre Court had to be stopped which resulted in long breaks and delays during Wimbledon tournament. Installation of a retractable roof over centre Court that closes and opens in under 10 minutes addressed the problem effectively. This umbrella roof provides a first-class, consistent and safe environment for the event. TTD plans similar retractable umbrellas for the comfort of pilgrims at Tirumala during rain and shine.
The EO instructed the vigilance wing to set up high end cameras in temple, laddu counters etc.
engineering wing to complete the works of new Rs.300 queue line, Akshaya kitchen, mass cleaning of rooms on a fast pace as summer vacation is fast approaching.
He also directed the concerned heads to come out with action plan in solid waste management.
Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, Additional Facao Sri Balaji, CE Sri Chandrasekhar Reddy and other officers were also present.
Later the EO inspected PAC2, Vaikuntam Gardens etc and suggested some improvements to concerned heads.
