For the first time after a long gap, TV-5 could beat the market leader, TV-9, in the latest BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council) ratings. For the week-40, with 22 percent growth, TV-5 scored 254.1 points (up from 209.1 of week-39) while TV-9 ended up with 224.6 points (as against 218.2 points of week-39). Week-40 covers the data from October 1 to 7.
At a time, Ravi Prakash is appearing on the prime time shows, TV-9 is supposed to get more viewers but the latest ratings clearly indicate that this popular channel is bit down this week. “We don’t know what helped TV-5 to beat the market leader. The only great thing happened this week is the live feud between film personality Posani Krishnamurali and politician V.Hanumantha Rao in TV-5 channel. We don’t know this kind of unsavory episodes too help get positive growth in ratings,” an analyst said. Reasons notwithstanding, it is indeed party time in TV-5.
In Hyderabad market, TV-5 surged head of TV-9. Surprisingly, TV-5 shown 26 percent increase while Ravi Prakash’s channel showed a negative trend (-6). Apparently this had an impact on over all ratings.
The two bitter rivals 10-TV and V-6 crossed 100 point mark for the first time while Vemuri Radhakrishna’s ABN-Andhra Jyothi started scaling upward. Chigurupati’s Express TV lagged behind all the main channels.
Across all TV channels that include entertainment, Gemini stands first, according to the week-40 data. Ee-Tv, Zee TV, Maa TV and TV-5 are the most viewed channels in that order.
