Things have drastically changed in Tollywood after Covid-19 pandemic. Soon, the digital players have turned selective and slashed down the deals. The satellite rights are almost minimal and there is no big demand for the Hindi rights. Still some of the Tollywood actors are not ready to compromise after scoring close to dozen flops. Young actors Nithiin and Varun Tej have slashed down their remunerations and are charging Rs 6-7 crores. This is reasonable for the producers and Varun Tej, Nithiin are doing more films. But actors Gopichand and Sharwanand are strict on their stand.
Loukyam was the hit film for Gopichand and it was released in 2014. It has been a decade since Gopichand tasted success but he is demanding big money. He pocketed Rs 12 crores for Viswam and he continues to demand big money for his future projects. Gopichand had a strong hold on Hindi rights but they have seen a decline. He will soon work with UV Creations. Sharwanand too did not score a hit from the past few years. He has three films lined up and he is charging Rs 10 crores per film. He is not ready to compromise on his remuneration. Despite dozen flops, Gopichand and Sharwanand are demanding big money and the biggest surprise is there are producers who are ready to pay them big and work with them by taking a risk.
