Former Congress MP Undavalli Arun Kumar is shocked with recent revelations of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu claiming that he has been making `sacrifices’ for the sake of realising his dreams for Polavaram project.
Referring to Naidu’s claims that he threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he will not take oath as Chief Minister unless the Centre issues ordinance merging seven submerged mandals from with Andhra Pradesh, he wondered that whether the Naidu accepted the proposal of special package at that time only?
Strongly disputing Chief Minister’s claims that he is the champion for achieving Polavaram, Arun Kumar said in fact decisions were taken during Dr Manmohan Singh time only, as per the commitments made by him in the Parliament.
According to him, immediately after the Parliament adopting the bifurcation bill, the government has send an ordinance to the President with regard to special status to the state and merger of seven mandals. But as by that time the poll schedule was announced, President didn’t gave his consent, he added.
Refuting Chandrababu Naidu’s claims that Pattiseema is part of inter-linking of rivers, Arun Kumar recalled that Central Water Management Director General had clarified by simply fitting some pipes between two canals would not be considered as linking of rivers, for which big reservoirs should be constructed between two rivers.
The former MP surprised over Chief Minister starting Purushothapatnam lift scheme at a time experts are stating that if Polavaram project gets ready would be no use of Pattiseema. He pleaded the Chief Minister “please tell truth even now. Is the Centre makes you clear that it will not go ahead with Polavaram? Is it threatened you to accept for Special Package?”.
