Union minister Ramdas Athawale got a rude shock as he was slapped by a 30 year old man in public.The incident happened at a public event in Maharashtra’s Thane district.
Ramdas Bandu Athawale is the president of the Republican Party of India (A). Currently, he is Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in the NDA government led by Narendra Modi. He is MP in Rajya Sabha now and earlier he was the Lok Sabha MP from Pandharpur.He was addressing a meeting and after addressing the meeting, he was coming down while suddenly a 30 year old man lunged at him, pushed and slapped him on the face. The man was later identified as Pravin Gosavi. But the reason for attack is not known yet. Ramdas blamed police for the incident and alleged that police failed to provide him adequate security.He told he is going to meet chief minister of Maharashtra regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, his RPI (A) party members called for shutdown in Ambernath as a mark of protest. However, in a statement Athawale asked his party workers to maintain peace in the wake of the incident.
