Ace Tollywood director SS Rajamouli has all praises for Indian cricket team captain Mahender Singh Dhoni during a promotion event when the latter came here in the city to promote his biopic MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.
Both Dhoni and Rajamouli have earned niche for themselves in their respective fields. In fact, the works of Dhoni and Rajamouli have set a benchmark of quality. However, during a promotional event in Hyderabad, Rajamouli came up with a good written script only to praise MS Dhoni on Sunday. Going a notch higher, Rajamouli certified Dhoni as ‘Karma Yogi’ (selfless action or dexterity of work).
Rajamouli, who is setting himself ready to bring ‘Mahabharat’ to the film sets, seemed to have forgotten the meaning of Karmayogi. Although, MS Dhoni mastered the art of striking the ball out of the stadium, there were several untold stories on Dhoni and his dressing-room politics.
It was alleged that Dhoni disrespected former senior cricketer Hyderabad cricket legend VVS Laxman, who strove for the Indian team and earned much recognition in India’s test history. When Laxman was thinking to have a word with Dhoni on his retirement, the latter was learnt to have denied speaking to Laxman.
Dhoni, who gave some valuable suggestions to cricket aspirants during the event, has no time to spare a thought how his ad films on consuming soft drinks would impact on the lives of kids and youngsters alike.
VVS Laxman is the only cricketer in the history of Indian cricket to deny acting in ad films and promote drinking soft drinks. Laxman, who came from a family of doctors, was aware of ill effects of consuming pesticide-laced soft drinks even when the companies offered him crores of rupees. In fact, Laxman’s selfless action of can be termed as Karmayogam as he turned down the offers from the soft drinks companies.
MS Dhoni, who hailed from a modest-middleclass family in Jharkhand, should be laudable for his vigour and tenacity in rising to the height of Indian cricket team captain. But is he a person who deserves to be a ‘Karmayogi’?
