As the Andhra Pradesh government is getting ready to conduct its maiden budget session of the Assembly from March 3 to 28, in the newly constructed Assembly complex at interim secretariat in Velagapudi village, the police are making unusual security arrangements.
According to government sources, the session will start with Governor ESL Narsimhan addressing the members of both the Legislative Assembly and Council on March 3 and the House will be adjourned to March 6. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu is likely to present the budget on March 8.
Police have decided to allow only VIPs vehicles into the premises of the assembly. Public representatives attending the session will have to park their vehicles at some distance. said to be due to lack of sufficient parking space. However, the opposition is suspecting that as this will be the first time the assembly session is being held in the state after bifurcation, the government seems to be fearing to face some protest marches.
Director General of Police N Sambasiva Rao, who reviewed the security arrangements for the maiden Assembly session said that the department is ready to deploy the required forces to ensure smooth conduct of the session. As it being the initial journey from the new capital city, the security officials are expecting some initial problems, which are likely to be resolved in coming days.
Legislative Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao along with his deputy Mandali Budda Prasad and Legislative Council Chairman A Chakrapani also inspected the Assembly block. After going round the chambers and peshis, the Speaker convened a meeting with the officials and directed them to make arrangements for transport and accommodation.
As the Legislature Secretariat staff in Hyderabad have already been instructed to shift to the new location along with files and records by the end of this week, the officials are now focusing on providing accommodation to the public representatives as well as the staff.
