Hyderabad: Pandemonium prevailed in Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly on Friday when the YSRCP members stormed into Speaker’s podium raising slogans against the AP government for welcoming the Centre’s special development package by compromising State’s interests.
The second day of assembly monsoon session started on an uproarious note with protests from the opposition party – the YSRCP demanding discussion on special status issue in the House. The House is adjourned for 10 minutes.
Even after Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao urged the members to maintain decorum and everyone would be given time to express their views on the issue on the special status, the YSRCP MLAs gheraoed Speaker’s chair as part of their protest. In the melee, the scuffle ensued between the YSRCP legislators and the assembly marshals present in the House.
Although Finance and Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu clarified that the debate can be taken on special status after a statement from Leader of the House and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the opposition members continue to demand for immediate discussion.
The YSRCP is furious over the manner Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcoming Centre’s announcement on package, during a session in legislative council yesterday.
While the State is in severe shock after being denied special status, it is sad that the there is no discussion being taken on the issue in the Assembly, the YSRCP MLAs contended.
