Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas’ Rakshasudu, an official remake of Tamil runaway hit Ratsasan, released this week with a low buzz. The film opened to lukewarm response from overseas audience.
As Bellamkonda’s previous films left no trace at US box office, Rakshasudu got a tepid start with $ 32K from its first day including Thursday premiers. The riveting thriller received decent reviews and word of mouth for its intriguing plot and gripping narration. On Saturday, it managed to collect $ 25K from 74 locations to take the total past $ 50K. Compared to his previous outings, Rakshasudu might offer some relief to Bellamkonda who is struggling to deliver a decent film to audience. But, the film need to perform well in the second week to earn a respectable gross in overseas.
Directed by Ramesh Varma, Rakshasudu is billed as a faithful remake of Ratsasan. Anupama Parameshwaran is the female lead.
