Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Maharshi had a respectable weekend at the US box office after taking a slow start from premiers. Despite low ratings and mixed word of mouth, the film managed to collect $ 1.4M by the end of Sunday.
Maharshi, Mahesh’s 25th outing, registered an underwhelming $ 515K from its Wednesday premiers and shocked the trade circles. There was hardly any improvement in the collections on Thursday and Friday as the film struggled to touch the million dollar mark even after two days. With a decent gross on Saturday and Sunday, Maharshi ended the first weekend close to $ 1.5 million. Considering Mahesh Babu’s strong base in USA and his track record, this can be treated as a mediocre run for Maharshi.
The fate of buyers will depend on how the film fares in the second week. Directed by Vamshi Paidipalli, Maharshi has Pooja Hegde as the female lead. Dil Raju Ashwini Dutt and PVP jointly produced the film.
