A US Court has put a temporary stay on the Donald Trump government’s order to cancel work permits to the spouses of H1B visa holders in America. The US Courts of Appeals, Columbia Circuit, asked the lower court to review and reconsider the earlier order. With this, lakhs of Indian professionals working in the US will stand to benefit.
In 2015, the Barrack Obama administration gave chance to H1B Visa holders’ spouses to work and contribute to their family income. Special H4 visas were being given to them as part of this. Later, this process created a job crisis in America. Local people are complaining that they are losing job opportunities as a result of H4. Consequently, the Trump administration gave an order cancelling work permits under H4.
