Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy hit back at Opposition BRS claiming that the Caste Census taken up by Congress Govt as the most scientific, transparent, and accurate population study since Independence.
At a time when Opposition BRS has been criticising Revanth Sarkar’s caste census as a biased and faulty effort, senior Minister made efforts to justify its sanctity.
Senior Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, who also led the Cabinet sub-committee on Caste Census, underlined that the Caste Census is the first-of-its kind scientific and legitimate survey taken up by any government to assess the true numbers of various Castes, besides assessing socio-economic conditions.
“No official data on Castes is available till now, except for the 2011 Census. SC categorisation was done based on the 2011 Census. After 2011 Census, it is Telangana Govt which has taken up an official and accurate caste census. It was done with one lakh trained personnel. Once data was collected, it was a processed and analysed by the Centre for Good Governance (CGG) using advanced software tools. A total of 76,000 data entry operators were recruited to digitise responses within 36 days, utilising automated error detection mechanisms to ensure accuracy before the data into four volumes covering state-wide statistics, rural and urban demographics, and caste-wise population figures,” said Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighting the authencity of the Caste Census.
Uttam came down heavily on BRS for spreading false propaganda on Caste Census, underlining that BC population percentage has increased compared to previous records.
“The BC population percentage, which was considered as 51 percent during the BRS regime, has now risen to 56.33 percent. KCR had done Samagra Kutumba Survey in 2014 but did no even publish its findings. On what basis, BRS leaders are saying that BC population has decreased in the survey done by our Government?” questioned Uttam Kumar Reddy.
Uttam signed off urging BCs not to fall for BRS’s fake propaganda against the Caste Census conducted by Revanth Reddy Sarkar.
