As expected, Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi resigned from the TDP primary membership as well as to his MLA seat. In an open letter to Chandrababu Naidu, he wrote that he was taking this decision to save his followers from the harassment by the ruling YCP leaders and the government officials. This statement triggered rumours whether Vamsi changed his plans and decided to join the BJP. However, he went on to state that he would like to resign from politics altogether.
Vamsi thanked Naidu for giving him an opportunity to get elected twice from the Gannavaram assembly segment. He stated that he has a chance to join one political party in order to save his cadres but his conscience is not permitting the same. This is why he is staying away from politics henceforth. Political circles are surprised why Vamsi is criticising YCP at a time he is expecting relief to his followers from the ruling party harassment. Is it because the existing YCP leaders in Gannavaram succeeded in preventing Vamsi from joining their party? Vamsi’s surprise decision gave rise to many unanswered questions.
