TDP politburo member Varla Ramaiah on Saturday wrote a letter to the Election Commission of India complaining against the ruling YSR Congress for its poll related violations. He said that several complaints were lodged with the Chief Electoral Officer, Andhra Pradesh and to the Election Commission of India. All the complaints have been submitted with relevant evidence pertaining to Graduate Constituency elections in Andhra Pradesh in 2023, he added.
Elections to three Graduate Constituencies, namely North Andhra (Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts), East Rayalaseema (Prakasam, Nellore and Chittoor districts) and West Rayalaseema (Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur districts) were held during March 2023, he recalled.
During these elections, large scale malpractices and gross violation of election Model Code of Conduct (MCC) were done by the ruling YSRCP in connivance with a section of officials and police, he said. The malpractices ranged from enrolling ineligible and bogus voters through cheating, forgery and impersonation to casting of fake and duplicate votes, he said.
In this context we have received a reply from the CEO AP in the reference 8th cited in which it was mentioned that a case was filed against two Municipal Corporators under section 171 D IPC and section 31 of RP act 1950 in crime no.157/2023 in Tirupati. But this letter is silent about the action taken against the officials who are responsible for the collusion in this case, Ramaiah said.
Similarly, the action taken against some voters who got enrolled as graduate voters without being graduates based on fake degree certificates and the ERO, AERO and other officers who verified and accepted the fake certificates is not informed to us till date, Ramaiah told the EC.
In this backdrop, it is earnestly requested once again to take appropriate action against all the concerned officials for their role in enrolling bogus voters and casting of fake votes in all the cases complained by us in the references cited, Ramaiah complained to the Election Commission.
