Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s new show “Citadel: Honey Bunny” is now streaming on Amazon Prime. Samantha, who plays a spy, had to perform intense stunts and action scenes. During filming, Samantha was diagnosed with Myositis, a medical condition, which caused her a lot of difficulties. Varun and Samantha discussed this in an interview, recalling the challenges of shooting with a serious illness. Samantha admitted that she initially thought she could not leave her house or be in front of the camera due to her condition. However, she credited the Citadel team for their support, saying they enabled her to trust and put herself in their hands, which was unprecedented in her 37-year career.
Samantha entrusted herself to the director, believing in her own abilities to accomplish the task. Varun Dhawan praised Samantha’s resilience, determination, and commitment, recounting instances where he was concerned for her well-being during filming, such as when she took a break to use an oxygen tank. “She didn’t have to do this. She could have taken the day off. She was literally taking oxygen on set, and that is commitment,” he added. Looking back on the second time when Samantha fell sick, Varun said, “The second one was when we were shooting in Serbia on a railway station and she had to run behind me. So I ran past the camera and she was still in the frame and she just collapsed. I caught her and I went to Raj and said, ‘Pack up’, and they were like, ‘Calm down’. You go and stand over there. Don’t worry, she will be fine.’ I just didn’t know what to do. It was just her determination and will to march on, just looking at her, gave me so much power and positivity. I felt like, ‘My problems are nothing, just look at this girl. She inspired all of us on set and taught us so much about life,'” the Baby John actor concluded.
