Vasireddy Padma, the former chairperson of the Women’s Commission, has resigned from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). Vasireddy Padma announced her departure through a resignation letter addressed to party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, adding to the growing list of prominent leaders leaving the party following its recent electoral defeat.
In her resignation statement, Vasireddy Padma strongly criticized YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership style and decision-making. “YS Jagan lacks responsibility both in running the party and in administration,” she stated, pointing to what she described as undemocratic methods and authoritarian tendencies in his leadership.
The former Women’s Commission chair took aim at Reddy’s recent “Good Book” initiative, calling it another attempt to mislead party workers. “What the party needs is not a ‘Good Book’ but a ‘Heart Book’ for its leaders and workers,” Padma emphasized, suggesting that the party leadership has lost touch with its grassroots workers who had dedicated their lives to the party’s cause.
Explaining her decision to leave, Vasireddy Padma revealed that despite having disagreements with party policies and personal reservations on various occasions, she had continued to work with dedication as a committed leader. However, after much introspection following the recent electoral verdict, she decided to part ways with the party.
This resignation comes at a challenging time for YSRCP, which has been witnessing a series of departures, including several mayors and councilors, since losing power in the state. Political analysts view this as another setback for the party as it struggles to maintain unity in the aftermath of electoral defeat.
