Governing Council (GC) of UN-Habitat, an organ of the united nations to promote sustainable human settlements in the world, unanimously elected India as President. Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu will be presiding over the GC for two years. He will chair the 4-day meeting of the 58-member GC from Nairobi, Kenya starting today.
Venkaiah thanked the member countries for having confidence in India and electing it as the president for the next two years.
