Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu is said to have made certain caustic remarks which go against the entry of Nara Lokesh into cabinet. If true, it is a clear signal that TDP and BJP are falling apart and Venkaiah Naidu is not gettingt Rajya Sabha nomination from Andhra Pradesh.
According to media reports, Venkaiah, who is considered South Indian ears and eyes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has reportedly opposed the dynasty politics. On the face of it, the remark ,made while addressing women entrepreneurs of Andhra Pradesh at Vijayawada, is innocuous. Because, Venkaiah, as a victim of dynasty of politics of Indira Ganghi during Emergency days, has every right to oppose the side effects of dynasty politics in the India. But, when he addressing the influential women, a dynasty was taking birth outside his meeting venue. Entire cabinet of Chandrababu Naidu has launched a campaign that his son Nara Lokesh be taken into cabinet and be anointed as IT minister on the lines of TRS did in neighboring Telangana.
Naidu, known for his terse comments, is reportedly told the gathering that he was opposed to hereditary politics. ” If one wants to enter public life, one should posses some character and talent. Positions should not be handed down as hereditary asset,” was the message of his speech.
One need not be a political pundit to make who was the target of Venkaiah’s comment.
Sometime back, unmindful of his seniority, Venkaiah had stated praising chief minister Chandrababu Naidu as the gift to Andhra Pradesh sent by the God.
Now, against the backdrop of Naidu’s impenitence towards centre and BJP leaders’ accusing CM Naidu of rebranding the Prime Minister Modi’s schemes as his, Venkaiah’s opinion on the hereditary politics assumes significance. Venkaiah Naidu might have stung by two things- Chandrabababu Naidu’s intemperate comments against centre while talking to central government official Sanjay Kothari, who is no way connected to releasing the central aid to Andhra Pradesh; two, Chandrababu Naidu’s inability to accommodate Venkaiah in the upcoming Rajya Sabha nominations from AP. Whatever might be the reason, Venkaiah’s opposition to hereditary politics is a slap on the face of CM Naidu.
