M Venkaiah Naidu took oath as the Vice-President of India on Friday. President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office and secrecy at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Venkaiah took charge as the chairman of the Rajya Sabha and is the only vice president to be born in the Independent India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcoming Venkaiah into Rajya Sabha said that the Vice President will lead Indian polity to greater heights.
Senior leaders in the upper house welcomed the new chairman in the Parliament. Derek O’Brien of the TMC in Venkaiah’s style described the chairman using an acronym Naidu as Now All India’s Dearest Umpire.
Deputy chairman of Rajya Sabha PJ Kurein said that Venkaiah has a immense experience as a parliamentarian that will help him run the upper House seamlessly.
