Congress Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao urged the union government to ensure that the list of US universities blacklisted by the government be published for the benefit of the students from India.
Writing a letter to external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, the Congress MP said the students from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana had been deported back to India from US on flimsy and unauthenticated grounds.
“The students have applied for their admission into Silicon Valley University and North-Western University of US. Neither the government of India nor the government of US have raised any objection while processing their applications. The poor students are made scapegoats for no fault of theirs. Now, their future is at stake. The parents of these students are worried about the future of their children. They are on the verge of l losing their precious academic year if they are not allowed to go to USA,” Rao said in the letter.
He requested the external affairs minister to institute a thorough probe into the matter duly consulting US Embassy and name the Universities of US that were blacklisted so that the students who wish to seek admissions in universities of US were not victimized.
