Youngster Vijay Devarakonda who shot fame with Pelli Choopulu and Arjun Reddy is racing ahead with many interesting projects in hand. He signed couple of interesting projects right before the release of Arjun Reddy which are now hot in trade. His next film which has been tentatively titled Taxiwala is getting ready for May 18th release. Rahul Sankrityan is the director of this action thriller and Vijay Devarakonda sounded extremely confident on this project right from the beginning. Geetha Arts and UV Creations bankrolled the prestigious project jointly.
It has been speculated that Vijay Devarakonda himself acquired the overseas rights of the film. That is fake news and the real news is that Vijay Devarakonda closed the deal on behalf of Freeze Frame, an OS Distribution house. The interesting news is that the deal has been closed even before the release of Arjun Reddy for Rs 80 lakhs which is a very good deal for OS distributor. A decent occupancy during the first weekend will leave the OS buyers in safe zone.
Actors and directors acquiring the overseas rights for some distributors turned out to be common these days and it doesn’t mean that they buy the film. For example, it was director Sukumar who referred Creative Cinemas for the overseas rights of his next film Rangasthalam. 1985.
