Visakhapatnam: Indian test team captain Virat Kohli and skipper Cheteshwar Pujara scored a brilliant test hundreds on the first day of the second test match being played against England at Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA VDCA stadium in Vizag. Pujara brought up his 10th test century by hitting a six into the stands. This is the third consecutive ton in the last three test matches.
Virat Kohli has moved to another distinction with 100s/50s ratio of 1.076 (14/12) – the 2nd best for any player in Tests after Don Bradman’s 2.230 (29/13). Virat Kohli is still at the crease with 121 runs off 190 balls. Openers Murali Vijay and KL Rahul fell cheaply in the first session for 20 & 0 respectively. India scored 264 runs for the loss of four wickets.
Although this is for the first time a test match is being played in the port city, tickets did not do brisk business compared to the ODIs. Many people blame the present ongoing demonetisation scheme launched by the Centre. Unlike Rajkot, Vizag pitch is said to be assisting the spinners as the game progresses.
