The indefinite strike planned by contract workers’ unions at Visakha Steel Plant has been temporarily called off following successful late-night negotiations. Discussions that continued until midnight in the presence of the Regional Labour Commissioner yielded positive results.
Union representatives announced they are postponing their protest based on assurances given by the management. Both parties reached an agreement stipulating that no strike actions would be undertaken until May 20th.
The RINL (Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited) management has agreed to maintain the status quo regarding workers’ current conditions. This compromise has satisfied the immediate concerns of the contract workers’ unions.
Following this breakthrough, the workers’ unions have officially cancelled their protest programs that were scheduled to begin on Wednesday. This development brings temporary relief to both the workers and the steel plant operations.
