After a meeting Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party at the residence of Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Sujana Chowdary, the MPs of the state met various ministers regarding the pending approvals and works in the state. Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu held discussions with almost fourteen ministers regarding various outstanding issues.
Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu who was tight-lipped about the Vizag railway zone, has finally given a positive vibe regarding setting up railway zone with Visakhapatnam as headquarters. The representative of the State in the Rajya Sabha, said that the matter was at an advanced stage of deliberation with the government and he would on his part take it up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The central government has been considering various things for Andhra Pradesh but hardly there is anything that it materializing. While the government gave up on Special category status, they might sooner or later forgo the judicial sanctity of the package. Now that the UP elections are over, will the BJP government focus on hand holding Andhra Pradesh? Will the TDP Union Ministers stop walking around with their heads in the clouds and not return empty handed. Will this promise vanish into the thin air like all other promises?
The Union Budget 2017-18 peeved the citizens of Andhra Pradesh as there was no mention of Railway Zone or legal sanctity to special package. BJP national general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao when asked whether the Railway Zone had to wait till the 2019 elections, he said only after announcing a date for the zone they would go for elections.
