Mudragada Padmanabham, the prominent Kapu leader and former minister, wrote a letter to YS Jagan, CM of Andhra Pradesh, to implement Kapu reservations in the state. One interesting point in his letter is that Kapus voted to YSRCP, despite another party by Kapu leadership in the field. Needless to say, he was referring Janasena of Pawan Kalyan.
It is known news that Chandra Babu Naidu promised reservations for Kapus in 2014 elections but he couldn’t deliver his promise. Of course, there are many legal hindrances in implementing Kapu reservations and it may need the amendment of the constitution also. So, in 2019, Kapus did not vote for TDP and they favoured Jagan, the leader of the main opposition party. Jagan also promised that he will pressurize the central government for Kapu reservations. So, now Mudragada is demanding Jagan to help realize their dream of kapu reservations. Mudragada indirectly referred Janasena in the letter saying, Kapu voters voted for Jagan even though another party by a Kapu leader was in the field. He insisted Jagan act on this demand at the earliest.
We will have to wait and see how YSRCP and Jagan will respond to this.
