Giving indication to the shape of the things to come in Telangana, the Warangal district unit of Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) declared today that it doesn’t want to go with TDP in Municipal elections. The party announced its list of candidates.
The party is determined to win the Warangal Municipal Corporation Elections on its own. Ever since the party bit dust in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Elections, the district unit, anticipating the election GWMC, is campaign for separation from TDP and it even adopted a resolution urging the party leadership to dissociate from the TDP. In the resolution adopted last week, the party had clearly mentioned that it wanted to field candidates independent of TDP. Now, the party has released two sets of names of candidates for the GWMC elections. And final list is expected on Wednesday, the last day of nominations. BJP City president Ch Sunial, senior leader M Dharma Rao, T Rajeswar Rao, Ch Janga Reddy made it clear that BJP would field candidates in all 58 divisions of the corporations. They said they were not in favor of a tie up with the TDP. ” We have our own constituency among the voters. We believe we are stronger enough in Warangal to win the election even without the support of TDP,” they said. Sunil said the party was campaigning on the premise that development of Warangal would be possible only when there is BJP governing body at city level. ” Centre helps the local bodies in numerous ways. From Smart Cities to drinking water projects, central government releases funds to the local bodies in a big way. If BJP is voted, the party could get liberal funding in coordination with the central party and central government,” he said.
“Schemes like heritage city, smart city can be better implemented for Warangal when BJP is in power in corporation. There will be excellent coordination between the corporation and union Urban development ministry,” the BJP leaders said.
