The candidates of three major political parties have filed nominations for the Warangal bypolls signaling intense campaign by the respective parties from tomorrow. While Pasunuru Dayakar filed his papers on behalf of Telanana Rashtra Samiti, Sircilla Rajaiah filed nomination as Congress candidate. Similarly, Prof Gali Vinod Kumar also filed his papers as the candidate of all left outfits.
The only party which is still not able to finalize the candidate is the TDP-BJP combine. TDP left the seat to BJP. BJP which has no visible leader in the area is struggling to find a candidate who matches other candidates in the fray. While Dayakar, though a low profile leader, has the backing of the muscle and money power of the ruling party, Rajaiah is old horse. He is well known in the district as the former MP. Similarly, Prof Vinod Kumar is a popular social justice activist. He will remain in the fray as an independent candidate. BJP is in short supply of leaders in Telangana in the young generation. After a meeting on Monday, the state party is said to have recommended the name of Dr Devaiah to party leadership in Delhi. Official statement is expected tomorrow. This is said to be the reason for the delay. Meanwhile two independents also filed nomination on Monday.
The last date for filing the nominations is November 4 and the polling is scheduled on November 21. Counting of votes will take place on November 24.
