K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the BRS party, has vowed to protect the poor in Hyderabad, stating that they will strongly stand against any attempts by Revanth Reddy to bring in bulldozers to demolish homes. During a recent meeting with MLAs and MLCs from GHMC constituencies at Telangana Bhavan, KTR emphasized the party’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the underprivileged.
KTR highlighted the confusion surrounding the Musi river project, accusing political rivals of changing their statements daily. He pointed out that, like the sudden shifts in narrative during Modi’s demonetization, the Congress party is inconsistent about the Musi issue. He also condemned the notion of demolishing homes without notice and said that such actions would only serve to intimidate builders and businessmen, using the Hydra project as an example.
KTR reassured that BRS would act as a shield for the poor, ensuring no harm comes to their livelihoods. He reminded the public that the party had previously beautified the Musi river without harming poor communities and warned against any proposals that would hurt them.
He also took aim at the Congress, accusing them of hypocrisy, stating that the same government that gave land titles to 20,000 people in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in 1980 is now labeling those residents as encroachers.
Protecting Hyderabad’s Poor
KTR stated that BRS would stand in the way of any bulldozers sent by Revanth Reddy. He promised to visit various colonies and reassure residents that BRS leaders are with them, ready to protect their interests. The party plans to tour the city, visiting STP and SNDP sites, to keep a close eye on ongoing projects.
KTR also criticized the use of Hydra operations, which he said have caused unnecessary panic among the public. He cited the dispute between Congress and Majlis leaders in Nampally as evidence of extortion under the guise of Hydra.
KTR challenged the opposition to release a white paper on how loans have been utilized. He questioned how the government could claim no loans were raised, while the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers repeatedly speak of bankruptcy.
