Congress president Rahul Gandhi spoke in the Lok Sabha yesterday during the lower house of Parliament’s debate on the Motion of No Confidence against the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic government. While he spoke several things, people of AP were keenly observing what he would say about AP as it is his own party that did this irrational bifurcation that is root cause of all issues of AP.
Rahul’s response to Galla Jayadev
Rahul mentioned Galla Jayadev’s speech and told, he can understand the pain in his speech and then he revealed the reason for all the pains of AP, as he told, “You (AP people) are the victims of a 21st-century political weapon and you are not the only one. The political weapon is called the ‘jumla strike’.
What is Jumla:
Jumla is an Idiomatic Expression used by people to say few sentences. It is Urdu word with origins in Arabic. Jumla in Hindi speaking states means a ‘False promise’. Recently Amit Shah used the word in a different context. What he meant was that many parties make empty promises or give assurances that are not entirely honest and implementable. In that sense, the promise of depositing Rs. 15 lakhs in the account of every Indian was a chunavi jumla or a false assurance made during election with the intent of influencing voters. Supremo of Communist Party of India(Marxist ) Sita Ram Yechury went one step ahead and coined another word Jumlanomics, where he said International Prices of Oil in World Market are Plummeting, Nevertheless Indian Government were raising Excise Duties.
Is Jumla reason for AP’s problems:
Rahul Gandhi used this occasion of NCM to criticize several of Modi’s empty promises (Jumla) and included AP also the victim of Jumla strike by Modi. However, people of AP are actually victims of irrational, unilateral bifurcation done by Rahul’s Congress party in 2014.
- Had congress did the bifurcation rationally and ensured justice to AP, people of AP wouldn’t have been in this position now.
- Had congress did it a bit more rationally, bit more scientifically by including special category status as part of AP reorganization act, it would have come into effect from 2nd June 2014 itself.
- Had Congress given the timelines for fulfilling the assurances given in AP reorganization act, the assurances would have been enforceable in the courts. But they didn’t do that too.
Congress didn’t do all these as they wanted to keep the issue alive and use the same issue to strengthen their party in future. Though there is no denying on injustice done by BJP to AP, people can clearly see that it is not Jumla strike but it is Congress’s irrational bifurcation that is root cause for the issues of AP.
