When your story is copied by a director for a film that becomes one of the most successful in Telugu Film History, how long will you wait to take legal action against the offenders?
Well, for a man named Sharath Chandra, it took more than 6 months! The film in question here is ‘Srimanthudu’ and the writer has alleged that Koratala Shiva copied his story from a novel published in 2012. A case was filed by the writer against the producers of the film and the director.
Sharath Chandra’s allegations have drawn mixed responses from the Film Industry. The main issue being raised is the amount of time it took to formally launch a complaint. Another issue being raised is the timing of the complaint. The producers, Mythri Movie Makers, have started working on a new film titled ‘Janatha Garage’. The film is now in production. Was this complaint timed to cause inconvenience to the makers at a vulnerable time?
These are questions that need to be answered. The matter is now in the Civil Court and a judgement is expected soon.
