A heated discussion on WhatsApp Governance took place in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. Minister Lokesh announced that 300 government services would be available through WhatsApp by month-end. While the YSRCP party alleged security concerns about hacking possibilities, Lokesh responded with confidence.
“I challenged anyone to prove WhatsApp platform can be hacked, offering 10 crore rupees from my personal funds,” Lokesh stated during the assembly session. He pointed out that even YSRCP leaders had obtained certificates through WhatsApp, suggesting this was why they stopped raising concerns about the platform’s security.
Nara Lokesh also mentioned that the former Chief Minister claimed he didn’t have a phone. “If Keshava provides him with a phone and installs WhatsApp, I strongly believe he will learn about WhatsApp Governance too,” Lokesh remarked.
Andhra Pradesh government plans to introduce these services in three categories. Some services will be directly provided by the government, while others will require human intervention. The minister also mentioned plans to introduce an AI-driven chatbot to improve government services accessibility.
Several acts were amended to facilitate the implementation of certain services through the WhatsApp platform, with the government working towards providing better facilities to citizens.
