Hyderabad: After several twists and turns in gangster Nayeem’s case, the Special Investigation Team has finally decided to arrest the politicos who had close connections with Nayeem.
During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that several leaders including the ruling party have had alleged links with the gangster-turned-renegade while solving several land settlements.
As part of the arrests, the SIT officials are learnt to have taken a TRS leader from Nalgonda district into their custody. The police also arrested a woman from Bengaluru in connection with the Nayeem case. However, the SIT teram has not divulged any details of the arrests made so far.
The police also going with a plan to seize the licensed weapons possessed by the TRS and other leaders of various political parties. In this regard, notices were already issued to several leaders asking them to surrender their weapons. The police also cancelled licenses of fire arms possessed by several leaders in Telangana State.
More than 120 odd cases were so far filed against Nayeem under various sections of extortion, attempt murder, rape etc. A detailed report was also submitted to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao by Telangana Director General Anurag Sharma.
