TDP senior leaders L. Ramana, Ravula Chandrasekhara Reddy, Mandava Venkateswara Rao and Peddi Reddy did not contest the recent Assembly elections in Telangana. It is learnt that they did so in order to test their luck by contesting 2019 Lok Sabha election. Another reason for their decision was that many Congress seniors had contested the Assembly elections and there would be fair chance for the TDP to get good number of LS tickets as part of alliance.
But the scene had reversed after the poll results. The Mahakutami met with a disaster with most of the Congress senior leaders tasting defeat in the poll. Now there are rumours these seniors may appear again and get tickets to contest the Lok Sabha election. Consequently, the TDP seniors’ chances of getting ticket are reduced now.
As per their plans, L. Ramana thought he would be able to get Malkajgiri LS ticket under Congress-TDP alliance. Peddi Reddy is planning for Karimnagar LS seat ticket. But now the Congress leaders are lining up to stake their claim for the same. Moreover, there some Congress leaders who are already openly talking about how their party suffered because of alliance with the TDP in Assembly elections.
