No doubt, the AP government has taken an iron grip on the sand and liquor sales with its arbitrary policies. In a way, the ruling party MLAs and Ministers are calling the shots and dictating terms in these aspects. The opposition leaders Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan and BJP have accused YCP of running a mafia-like rule in the state. Amid such allegations, CM Jagan Reddy got a rude shock from within his party. His party MLA Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has commented that Nellore people are suffering very badly because of the organised sand, liquor, land grab and bettings mafias. Obviously, Anam’s comments came as a big boost to the opposition parties which are already making such allegations.
Taking this advantage, the Andhra Jyothi has given a new interpretation to Anam Ramanarayana Reddy’s statements. It says that the comprehensive mafia rule was not just confined to Nellore city. The whole Andhra is reeling under the grip of this mafia. The paper made an ultimate criticism of Jagan Reddy Rule by saying that honest IPS officers are being targetted if they oppose mafia regime. The recent transfers of Nellore, Chittoor and Kadapa SPs were an example of how district level YCP leaders are dictating terms to the police department.
