Hyderabad: Within two hours after being suspended from TDP, Meda Venkata Mallikarjuna Reddy held discussions with YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. This has become a talk of discussion in Andhra Pradesh politics over what offer Meda got from YS Jagan.
Meda won on TDP ticket from Rajampet constituency and is a government Whip as well. He expected a berth in the Chandrababu Naidu’s Cabinet but got Whip post. Meda says he has already resigned from both the posts — Rajampet MLA and Whip– is set to join YSRCP on January 31. He said that he would submit his resignation in Speaker format on Wednesday.
Meda along with his brothers Meda Raghunatha Reddy and Meda Rajasekhara Reddy met YS Jagan at his residence Lotus Pond in Hyderabad on Tuesday 3pm soon after suspension announcement by Chandrababu Naidu at 2pm.
It’s learned that Meda Raghunatha Reddy will be given YSRCP ticket to contest from either Rajampet Assembly constituency or Lok Sabha constituency. Sitting MP Mithun Reddy may contest from Tambalapalli Assembly constituency.
“If Akepati Amaranatha Reddy, who’s been a loyalist to YSRCP from the beginning, is given Rajampet seat, then Meda will get Lok Sabha seat. On this assurance only, Meda is joining YSRCP,” said sources.
The past four-and-an-half-year period for Meda was full of discomfort in TDP as other party leaders in Rajampet constituency turned against Meda brothers.
