The political developments unfolding at Delhi-level has fueled speculations on the future of YS Jaganmohan Reddy as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
It may be recalled that Jagan, after becoming CM in May has been frequently visiting to Delhi to plead Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah to bail him out from CBI cases. But he failed to get any solid assurance from Modi or Amit Shah.
Interestingly, by denying appointments to Jagan to meet them or forcing Jagan to wait for their appointment for days even after he arrived in Delhi, Modi and Amit Shah are hinting that they are not keen on helping Jagan in CBI cases.
The CBI on the other hand is making all out efforts to get the bail granted to Jagan cancelled and also arguing strongly not to grant exemption to Jagan on personal court appearance in CBI cases,
The CBI works under the Centre and Jagan is doing everything to secure the support of Modi and Amit Shah to bail him out of CBI cases.
Jagan is worried that once his bail is cancelled, he will be sent to Chanchalguda jail again.
If that happens, he will be forced to quit from CM’s post and handover the post to his wife Bharathi or mother Vijayamma.
Jagan is worried that he would meet the same fate as late Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa and union minister Uma Bharathi, who were forced to quit their posts after they were booked and jailed in CBI cases as the BJP government at the Centre did not bail them out of this cases despite making repeated requests then.
Modi and Amit Shah are most likely to continue their ‘tough stand’ on CBI cases going by the way they are ‘treating’ Jagan in Delhi by not giving appointment or making him to wait for days to secure their appointment.
Looks like, Jagan will not last for 5-years as CM and complete his full term as CM even after winning AP Assembly polls with a landslide majority in May.
