After the YCP came to power, the VIP Break Darsans at Tirumala temple are cancelled. TTD Chairman SV Subba Reddy says that a new system will be brought in its place. The reasons for this action are that the Break Darsans were introduced by Ex JEO Srinivasa Raju. Those coming with letters from VIPs like MLAs and Ministers were given Break Darsans in L1, L2 and L3 categories. These Break Darsans were misused over time with the PROs and agents of VIPs exploiting and selling Break Darsan tickets at Rs 10000 to Re 15000.
The fact is that the corruption in VIP Darsans is there for decades. The middle men and agents earn lakhs of rupees every day from this. CM Jaganmohan Reddy has been talking a lot about illegal constructions and corruption before and after elections. Will he really put in place systems to root out corruption in Tirumala? Rumours are that TTD Special Officer Dharma Reddy is bringing in his own special systems to continue Darsans in the name of VIPs recommendation letters. Nobody can bring cent per cent reforms but ordinary devotees should not face difficulties.
