Board of Control for Cricket in India has got a new president. 41 year old Anurag Thakur is the youngest man to hold this post. Being a BJP MP could be certainly helped him to climb ladder with a jet speed in the BCCI.
As the new president of the Board, he has many things to do. It has to implement the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee, appointed by the Supreme Court. Shashank Manohar has failed to make changes. He might be opposed any reforms in the BCCI. Though the Supreme Court has asked why the Board is not transparent, he did not work in that direction.
Finally Shashank has resigned as the BCCI president and got elected as the ICC Chairman. BCCI has to come under RTI ambit. It has to appoint an auditor recommended by the CAG into its governing body.
One state should have only one vote in the Board elections. These are the key suggestions for reforms in BCCI. Will Thakur do all these things?
Interestingly, there is another proposal that politicians should contest in the Board elections. Will Thakur accept it? Thakur was a part of BCCI as the secretary earlier. So,he may not opt for any reforms, some observers say.
