But budget issues have never allowed it to take off. The script has been circulating around Tollywood offices for a while now and everyone acknowledges that it has fantastic potential. But for a script like that to work, only Rajamouli’s name will be able to pull the funds required.

Sources say that at least 100 Crores will be needed to make this movie the way it was intended. With that kind of money involved, it will have to be a multilingual project with a blockbuster director at the helm.

While Mohan Babu is a very talented actor and has the screen presence to pull off the role, the market economics will not work out for him.

Will Ravan ever see light of day? Let us hope it does. After ‘Baahubali’, anything is possible with the right planning and script.
